Ways to Boost Immunity Part 3: Factors that Compromise Immunity

Here is part three of ways to boost immunity by Precision Nutrition. I am a Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition coach and I like sharing sharing this stuff with you because it is cutting edge science. Does it seem kind of common sense? Yes, that is the point.

There is so much noise out there sometimes you don’t know who to believe. I trust the people over a Precision and I hope you like this series.

If you missed parts 1 and 2 you can find them here.

Believe it or not this is why I am labelled a high risk for Corona Virus. I have to use Advair for Asthma and Nasacort for Allergies. They actually suppress my immune system because those are auto-immune diseases. If I were to catch this virus I would have a decision to make.

  1. Get off all immune suppressing medication to let my body fight the virus. The problem there is kind of obvious. I have trouble breathing without medication and the virus attacks the lungs.
  2.  Stay on the medication and fight off the virus.

This is why I am a runner and do breathing exercises. I said it in the last blog but this pandemic should be a wakeup call for most people. Taking care of yourself does not mean getting on more prescriptions. It means getting up and exercising.

It is never too late to start a program but I would consider a couple of things.

  1. Don’t waste time procrastinating. Get a check up from the Doctor to make sure you can participate in a program and hire a trainer to help you.
  2. This is not an expense, it is an investment in your future. Right now you are getting the benefit / consequences of everything you did in the past. You can’t keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome.
  3. This may take a long time. My clients never realize how bad off they were until they start training. If you want to get off medications and lose weight, this is not a short term deal. It is a lifestyle so learn how to do this right.

The bottom line is that this is your choice. Your choice is to put yourself in the best position to survive and thrive. There are no guarantees that you can protect yourself 100% but you can be assured that if you don’t do anything something will eventually happen.
