About Me

A Life of Training, Making Mistakes and Learning ...A Smarter, Friendlier Way to Train After 50

Hi, I’m Michael.

I’m a coach in my 60’s and have specialized in training people just like yourself for over 15 years which means a few things:

  • This is not my first rodeo. I have experience with how older bodies move and ache and I can help you get your life back.

  • I’ve seen a lot of bad fitness advice and trends come and go…. and we are not going to play that game.

  • And I know that you are busy but consistency gets results.  I build my fitness ideas into your busy schedule. Nothing radical. Just doable.

I believe workouts should challenge you, not break you.

I will not waste your time or money. We are going to come up with a plan, get busy and yes, we’re probably going to laugh a little along the way.

I know technology can sometimes be frustrating, which is why we minimize it. Google Meet, Zoom and Email. That is it.  Once you sign up for Google Meet or Zoom all you will have to do is click on a link to get connected.

How I got here (short version)

Let’s not sugarcoat this. I sucked as a kid.

Diagnosed with asthma I didn’t play sports and I was tall, gangly and weak. The Doctors said don’t work out, that was the medical advice of the day but at 15 I made a decision.

I hope you know this feeling of making a life changing decision because it is powerful. I made that decision to workout 45 years ago and I still remember it like yesterday.

Maybe this will make you feel better about where you are now or give you a laugh but here it goes.

At 15 I couldn’t run a lap around the track.

I couldn’t bench the barbell.

It would have been a sad situation but I realized two things.

1. If I didn’t have the natural talent I could outwork everybody else.

2. I was a voracious reader. When I wasn’t working out I would learn everything I could about working out and nutrition.

As things worked out ( no pun intended) things changed for me. My life got much better. Girls began noticing me and guys stopped picking on me.

Flash Forward to 2026 and  things are still going well. I am stronger than I have ever been and I run up mountains for fun. Pretty cool.

What is also even cooler is that I make a living showing you how to do all this. There is no reason to stop doing the activities you love or want to try because of a little pain or weakness.

There is a saying in running that in a race your best support comes from total strangers.

And I have found that to be 100% true.

So pick the people that will make you stronger and a better version of yourself and ignore everyone else.

I train this way because I live this way.

I care about moving well now and still being active years from now.
I care about doing things I enjoy without pain getting in the way.

And I’ve learned that fitness works best when people feel encouraged, not judged.

That’s what M Factor Fitness is built on.
