Hey you made it. This is the last installment of the ways to boost immunity series. This is based off an infographic from Precision Nutrition. I have been a certified nutrition coach with them for years. They may be the only source of nutrition info that I trust.
Anyway, here is today’s graphic and I will put a few comments below.
If you are just getting here let me give you the links for the other parts to this graphic.
There is a lot here to look at so let’s start with nutrition.
Let me be honest, I know what they say is correct but I can’t imagine drinking shakes and eating healthy when I am sick. It is the right thing to do but it just isn’t going to happen. What I do is make sure I still take my vitamins and sleep as much as I can.
Exercise
Yeah, I follow David Goggins and all the other hard core guys that push through anything. But there is a difference between being lazy and being sick. If you are tired…work out. If you are sick, do a light workout and please don’t infect the gym because you don’t want to break your workout streak. There is nothing wrong with stretching and rehab days.
Here is the problem. If you are feeling drained, your body is using that energy to fight something off. That is why you feel tired. Or maybe you have pushed it too far this week and your body is struggling to recover. You can push through and workout but you are digging a deep hole for yourself. Exercise is about breaking down and recovery. If you can’t recover, the workout is basically worthless and you will get sick.
Bottom line: Use common sense and learn the difference.
