You can get 140 plastic surgeries?
What a strange, bizarre, creepy and bewildering story this is. I saw this on the Drudge report and lost the link. In my efforts to google the “Human Ken Doll” there are pages and pages of articles on this guy.
I had no idea.
Here is the link, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/16/justin-jedlica-human-ken-doll_n_1970547.html
And here is Justin. I guess he wants to get ab surgery next although this is an older article so who knows, he may have the first 12 pack known to man by now.
Now as a personal trainer you may think I am against such shenanigans as this but really I’m not. If the kid has the disposable income to spend on this and it makes him happy then who am I to say he can’t or shouldn’t do it.
I see it this way, most people would like to change the way they look. How much do we spend on designer clothes, make-up and hair products to change our appearance? There are probably a number of people out there who have spent just as much on these things as this dude has on his surgeries. So who should say where you draw the line?
As a weightlifter, I chose a different solution to the same problem. I wanted to get bigger, shape my body and add muscles. I like the idea of earning a different body and the discipline it takes to mold it. But I realize a lot of people do not share the same feelings towards the iron.
And this is where I see more people willing to be more like Justin than they will want to admit. I love the idea that most people want to look better and in that quest I think miss a number of important factors by taking the easy path. The easy path being throwing money at the problem instead of sweat.
Whether you go into a gym to get leaner or stronger you start a journey to learn more about yourself. Working out is just that, work but it is the most rewarding work you will ever do because you get to keep what you earn. It isn’t easy when you start and it never gets easier.
- That fortitude you develop to push on develops character.
- The pain you put yourself in each day develops willpower.
- The food you would like to eat but avoid teaches you not to cave in to impulses.
- The process of re-shaping your body will reveal character flaws and character strengths you may never have realized you had.
One of the biggest tragedies I see in modern life is that people want to change their life but they shy away from testing themselves. The one way that is proven to get results is lifting weights. Not shopping and not plastic surgeries.
But enough soapbox, I have a couple of questions.
So plastic surgery can give you “muscles” but they can’t increase your strength. So is it better to get big implants or small ones?
What I will ask Justin is where in the hell are the plastic surgeries? In the video you can see he has the plastic skin but other than that he looks like any run of the mill high school nerd to me. Has he really gotten his money’s worth with those weird stringy arms and the lump on his shoulder that I am guessing is a saline pack? Would it be more shocking if he decided on hulk implants?
If you ever get the chance, check out the documentary ” The man whose arms exploded” (You can find it on YouTube.). Here is the story of a bodybuilder who paid his dues in the gym but wanted more so he started injecting oil into his muscles to blow his arms into huge freaky veiny masses of meat.
A much cheaper way to get bigger muscles than plastic surgery but as you can tell from the title, pretty risky.
I guess in the end, Justin’s implants are supposed to look like muscles. And if you hang around other skinny people with no muscle maybe it doesn’t matter.
And in the end he probably doesn’t care that I actually understand where he is coming from.
